CONTEXT: Brazil recently had it FX-2 project, a project to choose Brazil next fighter jet with full technology transfer. The final three contenders was F-18 Super Hornet from USA (who didn't secured the tech transfer), the french Rafale (who came with a forbidding price) and the Gripen NG, from Sweden, who came with the best price and tech transfer proposal (and wow despite still being a prototype).
Shortly before Brazil' final decision, Russia came back (it was eliminated long ago) with an outstanding offer, not only offering the Su-35 but also the prototype PAK-FA T-50 (a 5gen jet, one ahead of every other here). Brazil gave no public response and choosed Sweden Gripen, but probably is because of the tensions with the Western World about making such a pact with Russia. Officially or unofficially, Brazil is aligned with USA and NATO.
