No; Poland will never regain it's independence. In the first place, the great Powers which partitioned Poland in 1772 have guaranteed the permanence of the arrangement, and no one of them will consent to a restoration of the kingdom; and, in the second place, the Poles themselves are too much divided among themselves ever to become united in support of a common sovereign. The three great sections into which Poland is split--Great Poland in the west, Little Poland in the centre, and White Russia in the east--will continue to prefer Russian to Austrian or Prussian rule, and will not consent to be reunited under a Polish monarch.
